Description: This course will introduce participants to the use of mindfulness as an intervention in Medical/ healthcare setting. It will be an experiential course so that participants can practice and learn about mindfulness as well as learning about mindfulness approaches that can be given to patients to utilise to relieve symptoms of pain, stress, anxiety, and depression.

The theory of mindfulness:

* Historical perspective,
* Development of mindfulness approaches in health care;
* Applications to pain relief, stress, anxiety, and depression.
* Research evidence base.
* Mindfulness toolkit:
* Contraindications
* Establishing a mindfulness practice
* Introducing mindfulness into your work with patients

Learning Outcomes

* Participants will have an understanding of the theory and benefits of mindfulness-based approaches in health care settings
* Participants will have the tools to establish their own meditation practice and offer mindfulness based interventions in their practice with patients.
